My paternal roots — the Crimean Tatars — were forced into exile in Komi, the cold region and the birthplace of my maternal roots. With both their native languages being forbidden, they buried their identities under learned taunts and faint echoes of the past. In my works, I try to stop the ongoing discrimination against minor nationalities and show how beautiful our differences are.
